Hello Weekend!

I love the texture you can create with acrylic mediums. So magical.

If you’re linking over from Elycia’s blog, welcome! I am always glad to have new visitors. Have fun looking around!

Okay, maybe it sounds strange that a stay-at-home-mom would be excited for the weekend. But I really am. I love having my husband home. And since he and our little guy are both a little sick, it will likely be a movies and laziness weekend. Nice.

Fabric with watercolors...I am in love. Maybe I am a bit biased since it's my fabric, but I think this would be perfect for a spring dress.

I am also looking forward to some less-pressure creative time. About a week ago, I officially launched three fabrics for sale at Spoonflower, so that felt pretty good. Earlier this week, I also had a meeting at a local gallery about selling some of my work. Yesterday I added five new paintings to my Etsy shop. Add to that the fun of refinancing the house, and it was a bit crazier around here than usual. At least it has been the good kind of crazy.

Two collage pieces that are now in my Etsy shop. These are the two I will outline in more detail next week. The one on the right won't be sold since my daughter almost cried about how much she "loves the dragons". Darn kids and their cuteness.

This is one of those pieces I make and then really, really don't want to get rid of. But hopefully someone else will love it as much as me!

So what have I been up to around here besides that? While I was painting, I took step-by-step shots of two small collage pieces I created. So Monday, I will have a new post about how to create small layered works when you are really limited on time. This will be great not just for moms, but anyone. If you are working lots of hours, more than one job, in school, whatever. No reason to totally let art slip out of your life. I also brainstormed a decent list of projects for a new post theme I want to get rolling: instant gratification. I still want to get a few projects done and shot before I launch this, but my hope is about two Saturdays a month share a project that is quick and easy. Sometimes doing something with near-instant results is great for boosting motivation. A few of these include projects perfect for spring, so keep checking back.

Happy weekend everyone!
