An uphill climb!

The most important projects are the little ones. Today is my girl's third birthday and I got up way too early to make her pncakes in her favorite colors. Worth it.

And I mean uphill because it’s work, but things are looking up. Thanks to a combination of being realistic and making lists, I am much less stressed than I was the middle of last week. Due to life in general, things have been more hectic lately than I had planned, so for the realistic part, I cut out a few things that instantly relieved stress. As I said last week, I skipping on December Giveaway Day. I didn’t even enter any one else’s giveaways…the first time in years! I was actually a bit upset about it, but I actually ended up feeling better. To cut out more stress, I also dropped my Firestarter Friday post. I was just too drained to think, so skipping it was better than putting up something awful and half-hearted. Finally, I (sadly) bumped my husband’s gift to his birthday. He gets the majority of presents on my list anyway, so i didn’t feel bad bumping it. Plus, I had a backup idea.

Every embroidery project reminds me of why I don't do embroidery projects. It's not awful, but it is time-consuming.

Thanks to mom for the awesome fabric. It is perfect.

All those little things helped quite a bit. Plus, I made a list of the projects I have to get done and broke them down by steps. I am making my daughter a doll, and I broke it into two projects, the actual doll and her clothes. For the doll, I had cut out, embroider face, assemble and stuff each as their own step. This doesn’t actually make it any easier to get things done, but I do love having more things to cross off.

So what did I get done this week? Let’s see…

  • Make grill mitts for my husband. Done!
  • Assemble the memory game. Done!
  • Finish pillow. Done AND wrapped!
  • Cut out fabric for blanket. Done!

Add to that cutting out pieces for the doll, pieces for my mom’s gift, and helping L finish the last of her gifts. No wonder I feel so great! Once I get materials in the mail (ideally tomorrow), I will be able to get another gift done in about thirty minutes and then get cracking on that blanket again.

Memory game in progress. I am SO thrilled about how this turned out, I'm not sure I can even expreess it in words.

Hopefully I can keep this momentum going, because I feel great right now. I hope all of you, no matter what your plans, are having a relatively stress-free holiday season. See you tomorrow!
