A darn good day

Despite a minor setback in my day in the form of my car not being ready, this day actually ended up being pretty awesome. A routine trip to get dog food turned into dog food, one of my angel tree gifts and three shirts on sale for me. Then when I got home, there was a package waiting for me. I knew my friend Carly was sending me some barnacles after a comment I made on her blog, but I got so much more. She went me an awesome new bag she made (in my favorite colors), a beautiful screen printed shirt, a pin and a collaged sketchbook. She must have read my mind…I was just thinking last night that I am going to need a new sketchbook very soon. She also sent me a really fun bundle of paper scraps as well as a tile and piece of chain. It just makes me want to get collaging! Make sure you come back here on Friday when Carly will be guest posting for Firestarter Friday.

So many goodies...
Some of my favorite scraps. A light blue with brown flowers, red and burgandy foiled paper and two-tone green paper that is fuzzy. So sweet.
Foil and glitter damask pattern paper.
Barnacles! I can't wait to make some jewelry out of these.

The night got even better after that. After much procrastination (disguised as “planning”) I finally got one of my remaining Christmas presents done. Now I only have nine more. Fortunately, most of them are small like this one was. Since I can’t blow the surprise, all I will say for now is the gift is for my mom, I sewed it and it took me just shy of two hours to make. Most of the projects I have left to do are about the same size wise, so actually getting things done shouldn’t be a problem.

If the rest of you have a project list that never seems to end, keep up the good work! I know December is only two days off, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Keep working, keep your projects realistic and – most important – remember you are making something for someone you love.

Look at those awesome fabrics. Wonder what I made...you'll have to wait and see.
