Up (kinda) late to contemplate a big, blank wall

The trees in the dining room. This will make more sense in a minute.
That is one blank wall.

It has a been a bit over a year since we moved into our awesome house. About three months after we moved in, I stayed up late two nights in a row to change our bo-ring white walls to soothing green ones. And that’s where it stopped. Which is weird because I have about fifty pieces of art floating around the house. So I decided it’s time to create something to fill that big empty space.

I know I want to make a triptych, and my first impulse was to make a really cool tree whose branches stretch across all the panels. The only problem — our house may already have a few trees in it.

Another scene with trees.

So I have been thinking the last few days about something a bit different. So I am going with a landscape (that has trees in it). Major departure, huh? Well, even if it’s not totally different, it’s a step in the right direction. So here is the sketch for now…

A rough start, but still a start.
