Ohmygoodness, I am alone!

08 09 2014 eureka 1

Well, not totally alone. My husband and daughter headed out to some hunting thing and my baby boy is napping right now. Therefore, it is so quiet here that I FEEL alone. And when you have two kids, that’s pretty much the same thing. So I wanted to share a few quick shots of studio things I have been up to.

The top of this post shows a super closeup of this morning’s eureka moment. I have a painting that has been stagnating for a few weeks, and inspiration finally hit and that thing took a leap forward. Of course, instead of showing the whole painting, I opted for a picture that shows all that lovely painty detail. I love brushstrokes.

There is something so fun about just dribbling paint right onto a canvas. It just brings out the little kid in me.

Lately, I have been trying to do less super detailed planning and more diving right into the fun. Today I did just that with a palette that is out of my unusual: hot pink, purple and yellow. Nothing spectacular yet, just a canvas with dribbles of paint pushed around by a brayer. But it makes me feel really excited and happy about what might come next.

Anyway, I just wanted to share a little bit before people wake up or come home and things go back to crazy. Sometime next week, I will be sharing a tutorial on making over super cheap rings. It’s a really easy, open-ended project and I am really excited to share. Now I just have to make some more for examples. Back to the studio…happy weekend all!
