Up Late: A mural for my wall

Orchids!
Orchids!

As I have mentioned very frequently, my studio space is a work in progress. The space definitely lacks character. Well over a year ago I created a background for a large wall hanging I could get up to make the space less grey. And after I did the background, I came to a screeching halt. Yesterday I talked about the creativity cure and how it involves working with your hands every day. One of the suggestions they made was to go back to a neglected project and get back to work. This is a great choice because just getting it done and up on my wall will be wonderfully motivating. I started with a large crane and filled in the underpainting. Instead of focusing on the bird more tonight, I moved on.

For Valentine’s Day, my husband got me some really lovely orchids that are still blooming. Since I love them so much, but I will likely kill them at some point, I wanted to immortalize them. So after about two hours of work, here is where I am at. My plan is to fill the rest of the space in with all sorts of things that I love and inspire me. That’s the extent of the plan. Happy Monday all!

A good stopping point for tonight. Once everything dries, more details will be added.
