It’s a good blog post when it starts with a picture of pony butt. I am happy right now because this pony is done! Now I just need to wait until tomorrow afternoon to give it to my little sweetheart.
The final details went faster than I expected…a side effect of applying really thin layers of paint. My kiddo requested tattoos of oranges, so I went for oranges and orange blossoms. I’m really not used to painting such small, detailed things, so it was interesting. Add to that painting on a curve and trying to keep pony hair out of the way. Two super small brushes and a few toothpicks did the job though.
Overall, I am thrilled. Now I have been prepping myself for the classic little kid reaction She may be ecstatic, or she may have no reaction at all. Luckily, I don’t take lukewarm reactions too seriously. She was less than thrilled about the doll I gave her for Christmas, but now she talks to her, brushes her hair and sleeps with it at night. Kids are a fickle bunch. But that doesn’t make them any less fun to create for.

Oh, on a totally unrelated note, I know today is May Giveaway Day at Sew Mama Sew. In the past few years, I have taken part in both the May and December versions. Even a week ago, I was planning on giving away some fabric. Then I decided to let it go. I love the extra traffic, but I don’t need more things on my to-do list. Even something as simple as heading to the post office. So, if you sew or love sewn things, head over there and try to win some goodies this week. I know I will be stopping by! And maybe I will pitch in again come December.
