Up Late: Toddler bedtime is messing with me

No one has monkey models like my monkey models. And he looks so cool in his hat.

In case you couldn’t tell, non-crafty things are messing with my fun time. After a bit of discussion, my husband and I decided to shift the little lady’s bedtime back 45 minutes. That sounds really small, but it’s not. The downside, 45 minutes less crafting time. The upside, I get my butt in gear a bit faster.

Is this a good time to confess that despite wanting to slow down the sewing, two new fat quarters caught my eye this weekend? Damn modern fabrics.

I also came to the realization tonight that for someone who wants to take a break from sewing and crocheting, I really do a lot of sewing and crocheting. So I think as I am getting my studio back into shape, I need to put some things (like yarn) up and away so I can focus on painting and drawing a bit more. There just needs to be some sort of plan to keep me on track. As you well know by now, I love making a good list. While I’m at it, I need to force more creative time into other parts of my week. Thanks to chores and some other stuff, it’s seeped back out.

The good news is tonight I actually got a project completed. A friend of mine wants a slouchy hat, so I made her one. Usually I hate making hats because I really suck at it, but that’s the perk of slouchy — they can be imperfect. Next up, she also wants a painting for her art wall, so I will make my own small contribution. So if tonight was craft night and tomorrow night is chore night, does that mean I earn another craft night Wednesday?

With that thought, I had better leave my computer. In an effort to get into crafting mode, I left out all the food from dinner and neglected a few chores. Maybe I should do some of those. Hmmm….wish me luck.
